What to Expect From Your First Telehealth Consultation

Starting something new can feel a little nerve-wracking — especially when it involves your health. If you've just applied to Modern Female or you're thinking about it, here's exactly what to expect from your first telehealth consultation so you can walk in (virtually) feeling confident and prepared.

Before Your Consultation

Once your application is approved, you'll be matched with one of our AHPRA-registered doctors. Before your consultation, you'll complete a comprehensive health assessment. This gives your doctor a full picture of your medical history, lifestyle, symptoms, and goals — so you can spend your time together focused on solutions, not paperwork.

During the Consultation

Your consultation takes place via a secure video call from the comfort of your home. There's no waiting room, no travel, and no rushed appointments. Your doctor will walk you through:

  • A review of your health assessment and medical history
  • A discussion about your symptoms and how they're affecting your daily life
  • An explanation of your personalised treatment options
  • An opportunity to ask any questions you have
  • A clear plan for next steps

Most consultations take around 15–20 minutes, but your doctor will take as long as needed to make sure you feel comfortable and informed.

After Your Consultation

After your consultation, your doctor will finalise your personalised treatment plan. If medication is part of your plan, it'll be prescribed and sent directly to you in discreet packaging. You'll also receive ongoing support and follow-up check-ins to make sure everything is working as expected.

Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Appointment

  • Find a quiet, private space for your video call
  • Have a list of any medications or supplements you're currently taking
  • Write down any questions you want to ask
  • Be honest about your symptoms — your doctor is here to help, not judge
  • Take notes during the call so you can refer back later
